In a bizarre collaboration that breaks conventional expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Revealed

According to the authorized release, "A mysterious encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and terrifying changes echo through the shadows." The narrative features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden group.

The mission concentrates on "bizarre tests and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Places and Metamorphoses

The teaser highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a powerful scene showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Extra Material

Players who finish the adventure will obtain an unique katana together with several artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps mount

This update also brings the game's third complimentary story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Partnerships

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime series. The series formerly showcased a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that clearly referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
